Technology Review published by MIT, describes an experiment which shows bots may not simply be a form of irritation. The research project started when a group of freelance web researchers created "sophisticated Twitter bots, dubbed 'socialbots,' that can not only fool people into thinking they are real people, but also serve as virtual social connectors, speeding up the natural rate of human-to-human communication."

Social media and mobile apps are more and more being used in emergency and disaster response solutions and initiatives.

My new use of social media is to create new things and to find others creating in similar ways. I want to know who is using the tools to build real communities, support causes, heal hurt, collaborate to make something bigger than what each of us can build alone.

Open systems encourage community collaboration and can produce incredible results quickly, growing and extending systems beyond the imagination of the initial designers. I think that's is what the church has recognized. Hacking is just a term for extending closed or limited systems.
