Cyber bullying is another important issue in social media because you can't control what is posted on the internet. There is not many laws about this issue and kids are very affected by it because once the bully posts something about you, only they can delete it and chances are they won't.

Should children under the age of 18 be allowed to join and use Facebook? | Debate.org - 1 views

  • Adults do more inaproppiate things than we do. At clubs what all do you see there? Adults. Thats when they have the time to act immature. Who do you see get pulled over for drinking and driving? Adults. See my point? Well Adults think just because they are dults they can do whatever they want, and think us teens cant.
  • Of course Facebook's safe. I'm 15 and have never been sexually abused, bullied, or been offered drugs over Facebook. There are over 1 billion Facebook users. The only reason we only hear about the bad things that happen over Facebook is because the media and news only share bad news.

We only hear about the bad things that happen on accounts. We never hear about how people have good things happen to them like maybe make a new friend. Accounts allow people to hear about their friends lives and contact them. They can be a very good thing, but we only hear about the bad things that happen. Good things wouldn't grab reader's attention for magazine's and newspapers. We only hear about cyber bullying, internet stalking, etc. because they interest us.
  • If the parents think the are mature enough to use it then by all means they should be able to. Parents should monitor their accounts and also before they join tell them about some of the dangers, like not being accepted for a college or job because of the things they post.

Kids are the ones who post and share the information. They don't have to share anything except their name. They don't have to share their address, phone number, or even a picture of themselves. The parent needs to talk to the child if they are worried about them giving out this information. If the parents don't think that the child doesn't have enough control to do that then they shouldn't have an account in the first place. It should be the parents decision if the child can have the account.

  • So when I was 13 you ahd to be 18 to join facebook, I still had it..all my friends did. You're just giving kids the challenge to d stuff behind your back

Even if there is a law against it they will still have it anyways. There is no way to keep the children from lying about their ages. If anything, it will encourage children to have an account because then they're being a "rebel" which can be considered cool. The parents should be the one deciding if the child should have an account. It is their child and if they think that they are mature enough to have an account. A law against it won't change much, and will be very difficult to enforce.
