I found a great graphic on Flickr by doing a search for "PLN PLE" which shows the relationship between PLEs and PLN. I appreciated seeing this relationship visually as I was not quite sure initially how the two related and were different one from another. The other valuable point I gleaned from this graphic which helps me understand better how Personal Learning Networks function, is the point that there is a "sharing spirit" associated with PLNs. I find this to be one of my weaknesses in participating in Social Networks. I like to find communities, and lurk to find out the information I am looking for, but rarely do I contribute myself. I think this is mostly because I don't think I have very much that I can offer that is unique. I do think that sharing is important though.
I teach in Fairfax County Virginia. Technology Education with 7th and 8th graders is how I spend my days. I'm into programming, video game design, 3D modeling, and microcontrolers.
