PBS documentary about the Hernandez v Texas case, where A mexican man accused of murder was tried by all white jury. The case established that Mexicans as a class of people were protected by 14th amendment and all white juries did not provide equal protection.
This is a hard read and would have to be adapted for use with kids. However, it is a great summary of how Douglass was unhappy with Lincoln's first inaugural adress because he felt it signaled that the goals of the war were too narrow.
