    What is spandex wrapped yarn? Polyurethane wrapped yarn is an elastic yarn formed by wrapping elongated polyurethane filament with polyurethane filament as core and filament or staple filament yarn in spiral form.

    Classification of polyurethane coated yarns

    1. According to the number of coated layers, it can be divided into single-coated yarn and double-coated yarn. Among them, polyamide and polyurethane are mostly coated by single-coated yarn.

    2. According to the different equipment, it can be divided into two kinds: machine-covered yarn and air-covered yarn.

    Characteristics of spandex coated yarn

    1. Air-wrapped yarn (ACY) is a yarn that is drawn simultaneously by the wrapped filament and the spandex filament through a certain type of nozzle and formed a rhythmic network point by the high-pressure compressed air regularity jet pressure.

    2. Machine-wrapped yarn (SCY) is a twisted and twisted polyurethane core filament with uniform drawing speed. Its main feature is its smooth and straight fabric style.

    Both empty and machine-wrapped yarns have their own advantages and disadvantages in downstream weaving mills. Empty bags usually need sizing when warping on air-jet looms. Otherwise, the fabric is easy to pick up and break, but beating-up can be used directly. Considering the cost alone, the empty package capacity is much higher than the machine package capacity, which makes the price lower than the machine package capacity, and is convenient to reduce the cost of downstream looms. Although the package does not expose core filaments, it is not easy to produce quality problems in spinning and weaving except for uneven twist, but the output is low.

    Major Technologies

    Spandex Stretch is an important process parameter in the spinning process. It affects the elasticity of Covered Yarn and fabric, as well as the strength and elongation, evenness and creep properties of the coated yarn. The pre-drafting ratio of spandex is too small to give full play to the advantages of elastic fabric. It is difficult to spin when the stretch is too high, and it is easy to break the yarn, so the product quality decreases. In addition, the percentage content of spandex affects the elasticity of the coated yarn, which is high in content and good in elasticity.

    The strength and elongation of air-coated yarn increase with the pre-drafting ratio of polyurethane fibers. After drawing to a certain value, the shrinkage of polyurethane fibers makes the outer fibers curl. When the pre-drafting ratio is properly increased, the percentage of polyurethane fibers decreases, and the outer fibers curl greatly. But when the drawing is too large, the deformation range of spandex filament is close to the critical value of deformation, which will reduce the strength and elongation of the coated yarn, but it is beneficial to the evenness of the coated yarn.

    The phenomenon that deformation changes with time under constant drawing force is called creep. The creep resistance of conventional wrapped yarn is the best when the pre-drafting of polyurethane filament is 3.5 times. It should be adjusted according to the use and the style of downstream fabrics.

    In addition to the requirement of polyurethane drafting multiple in air-coated yarn, twist is an important technological parameter, which affects yarn quality, strength, elongation and evenness. Increasing the twist can increase the cohesive force between the wrapped fibers and the spandex filament, and increase the strength of the wrapped yarn. Too low twist, loose outer fiber, affect the coating effect, the appearance of core-exposed phenomenon, so the twist should be higher when mechanical coating. But the twist is too high, the fabric feels hard and the drapability is poor. Generally, the twist should be adjusted according to the change of denier number of yarn and the different style of fabric. The elongation of the machine package is also mainly determined by the properties of spandex core filament. The elastic effect of spandex filament can not be brought into full play and the elongation decreases because the twist is too big and the outer filament is too tight.
