Vijay Mallya-led Kingfisher Airlines has been voted the best Indian carrier and Finnair the best in north Europe in a global survey by an independent research agency -- often called the Oscars of airline industry.

The aim of the research is to investigate the influence of issues related to customer satisfaction on the Kingfisher financial performance

Aviation sector in India experienced liberalization in its late nineties when private airlines like spice jet, jet airways, Kingfisher, Indigo, go air etc. contributed 75 percent to the Indian market. The cause for the growth of the aviation sector relies on the flourishing tourism industry, more outbound tours, financial progress, and lesser airfares because of the introduction of low cost carriers and improved buying power of the people.

Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines will now fly to the US and Canada taking the polar route, an official said on Monday.

There has been a 20 percent surge in air travel in India since the global economic downturn began in late 2008, Kingfisher Airlines Chairman Vijay Mallya said Saturday.
