LAHORE – The provincial cabinet on Monday approved Rs 40 as the fare of the Orange Line Metro Train after the CM rejected a proposal of Rs 50 ticket cost.
The meeting also decided to give temporary powers of registration of new public transport to motor vehicle examiners besides approving the students’ promotion/examination policy, 2020 of the higher education department in the wake of the corona.
“In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 5 (d) of the Punjab Mass Transit Authority Act 2015, the government of Punjab is pleased to fix flat flare of Rs40 per passenger per trip of Lahore Orange Metro Train with immediate effect” stated in an issued notification from Punjab’s Government transport Department.
An official from the Punjab Government took a ride in the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train that completed its high-speed test run. Train competed 70KM in an hour and it took around 20 minutes for completing the round.
Orange Line is an automated speedy transit system in Lahore and will be opening to the public later this month. The line will be Pakistan’s first metro in the entire country and spans 27.1 km with 25.4 km elevated and 1.72 km underground.
The tack of Metro Orange Line comprises of 26 stations and will be helping 250,000 passengers daily. It is a part of CPEC and financed by both governments.
