Adding value: Principals' perceptions of the role of the teacher-librarian | QUT ePrints - 0 views

  •
"This paper reports on a study into principals' perceptions of the role of the teacher-librarian. Nine principals in Australia were interviewed about the role of the teacher-librarian and library in their school. The findings indicated a range of ways in which the teacher-librarian adds value to the school, including in their role as teacher, providing the principal with a broad perspective on the workings of the school, providing advice and ideas, and providing leadership in the use of information and communications technology (ICT) at the school. It also identified a number of personal qualities valued by principals."

What Constitutes Plagiarism? § Harvard Guide to Using Sources - 0 views

  •
"While it may seem obvious that copying someone else's words verbatim and submitting them in a paper with your name on it is plagiarism, other types of plagiarism may be less familiar to you. These more subtle forms of plagiarism are actually more common, and you should make sure you understand all of them, as well as how to avoid them by conducting your research and writing carefully and responsibly."

What Are Your Ideas For Incorporating the "Maker Movement" In Teaching Englis... - 0 views

  •
"The best way to activate your classroom is for your students to make something. This might an amazing high-tech invention or it might take the form of costumes for a historical reenactment, homemade math manipulatives, a new curtain for the local auditorium, toys, a pet habitat, a messy science experiment, or a zillion other things. Best of all, you don't need expensive hardware, or to start by mastering a programming language. You can begin with found materials: buttons, bottle caps, string, clay, construction paper, broken toys, popsicle sticks, or tape (hint: Google "tapigami" or "duck tape projects"). What are you having your students "make" to help them learn English?"

Books Origami Sculptures - Fubiz Media - 0 views

"English artist Nicola Nobo creates particular origami artworks. In fact he curves book pages to make impressive sculptures when we look it in front. The precision of foldings is offering creations that seem to be cut or sculpted. But this work didn't need any paper transformation, except the folding."

Andrew Fuller: Remote learning tips and ideas for teachers - The Parents' Website - 0 views

  •
"Remote learning is a major opportunity for schools to refine their lesson planning and delivery. The efforts of teachers to adapt classes to online platforms has been nothing less than heroic. Now we have the chance to incorporate the ingredients that create effective remote learning, accelerate expertise and enhance the experience of our students.  The rapid shift to remote learning has been unprecedented and we are all learning as we go through this. At its worst, remote learning can be disorienting and disconnecting. We all need to be innovative in creating learning that is engaging and involving for our students. The ideas in this paper are derived from the author's research and work with schools of the air and distance education as well as his work with students who have been unable to attend school due to mental health issues.  "

Do students lose depth in digital reading? - The Tech Edvocate - 0 views

  •
An interesting article comparing the ways in which we read in print and onscreen. The author discusses the results he gathered between 2013 and 201. He obtained data from 429 university students drawn from five countries (the U.S., Japan, Germany, Slovenia and India). The students in my study reported that print was aesthetically more enjoyable, saying things such as "I like the smell of paper" or that reading in print is "real reading." What's more, print gave them a sense of where they were in the book - they could "see" and "feel" where they were in the text.
