This San Francisco 3-story, 50-unit, 19,260 sq. ft. student housing complex renovation uses three types of solar energy: Solar water heating, solar hydronic heating, and solar PV.

'The Urban Cloak' proposal by Jonathan Gibb is an addition to an existing inner city 2 storey brick building, to adapt and add a multi-levelled apartment building. The existing building is left, but affected by the new. Its old roof is discarded and the paint of the facade shed, revealing the identity of the brick. As a condominium building, however, an entrance hall was considered necessary, and thus added with proper security features. A community room was also created, since the entrance took on an important role of community focus to the whole condominium building.

The south wall panels extend 1.5 meters and the north wall panels extend 1.35 meters of the building. The walls are polished and worn its exterior paint.

This project is the renovation of the former Brumétal dealer of old iron into a social housing complex composed of a 4-flat building connected by a large common open space to 3 maisonettes at the rear of the site.

This project involves the renovation of three Baroque block houses with an enclosed internal court in the old city center. The brief required to connect the houses into one single unit with implementation of 12 apartments around the small internal court.

Standard low-rise housing is introduced that replaces the 10 storey apartment buildings but also the green spaces in-between them. It is quite a surprise that amidst the new ideology of the small scale such a large new building is projected.

Renovations completed in 1996 included repairs to cast in place concrete, total replacement of windows, expanded kitchens, an accessibility review, and upgrades to all critical building systems.

In addition to the restoration of the existing façades the project foresees the creation a new front that faces the adjoining garden. At the center of the façade, a recess is created which integrates a loggia that runs the height of the building.
