    Orthorexia symptoms may include:



    • a careful and categorical approach to the choice of products, based on their composition and quality;

    • strict nutritional framework, calorie counting;

    • the choice of food only taking into account its usefulness;

    • phobia of harmful products, which can lead to hysteria;

    • refusal to communicate with people who do not support such a food system;

    • punishing yourself for failing to diet;

    • Eating at a strictly defined time and not a minute earlier / later.


    The consequences of eating the right food can be extremely unpleasant. With severe starvation, the body lacks vitamins, and nutrients, and internal organs begin to suffer. With an obsessive fear of being overweight, anorexia can develop.


    Also among the consequences of orthorexia is called social isolation. A person begins to fence himself off from friends who offer to go to a cafe for a bite, and relatives who worry and convince him to eat. Orthorexics often impose their lifestyle on others, which also negatively affects communication. 


    Treatment methods


    Diagnosis may include various tests to determine the state of the body, tests, and conversations with the patient. It is very important that strict diets do not lead to breakdowns, bulimia, overeating, and feelings of constant guilt. 


    Treatment is carried out by a nutritionist and psychologist. A nutritionist will tell you what a healthy diet is and how it should affect the body. A psychologist will help you treat your body adequately, correctly assess the harm and benefits of food, and get rid of complexes. First of all, to get rid of addiction, you need to accept and love yourself. Rigid rejection of products that are not inherently harmful is a mockery of your body. Psychological assistance is aimed at developing a healthy relationship with food.
