It appears a bit confusing, but the Michelin tires are manufactured by a company that was named after Charles Goodyear although he did not have a direct connection with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. If we look a little further into the company history it will make more sense. Mr. Goodyear was the original inventor of vulcanized rubber in the year 1839, so when Frank Seiberling created the business in 1898 he named it after the inventor. The vulcanization process helped make these tires easily detachable and needed very little maintenance so they became popular very fast.

They employ testing standards that are higher than those issued by the government as they work to manufacture the best tires that are on the road making them well-known for their quality products. The quality tires that they produce can be found for private passenger vehicles, trucks, trailers and even for All Terrain Vehicle types. As we take a look at the history of this company we will learn that they made an impressive appearance at some important historical events with excellent products that this company is well known for manufacturing in addition to those listed quality tires.

In 1898 the first Goodyear Tires were manufactured by their factory in Akron, Ohio. During that time they specialized in bicycle tires, tires for carriages, pads for horseshoes and chips used to play poker. Henry Ford received racing tires made by them in 1901 and they obtained the patent for the first tubeless automobile tire in 1903. In 1909 they were developing the first pneumatic aircraft tires. The first airship envelope was developed by them in 1911 followed by the Goodyear blimp's 1912 debut. You can find additional information you need to know about this article at eHow.

They were the world's largest rubber producer by 1926 and were listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1927 with their initial public offering. In 1937 they manufactured the first American-made synthetic rubber tire that was followed in 1947 by the first nylon tires. More successful race cars used their brand of racing tires than any other brand over an extended amount of time. During the 1970s they were the manufacturer for the tires on Apollo 14 which were the first tires on the moon. The drivers in the Indianapolis 500 all used tires provided by this company by 1975.

It is only fair that we also mention that an impressive line of tires is manufactured by Michelin tires that remains one of the largest tire manufactures in the world. Driver satisfaction that can be experienced on the highways, city streets and even at off-road events is the focus of this company to provide all around excellence. Our goal is to provide you with the best information available and that is what we are going to keep doing at |Arizonian Tires at Discount Tire.
