Good conversation starter for those new to these ideas In recent years, IDEO has spent a lot of time and effort thinking about education. The firm's work with Ormondale Elementary School, in Portola Valley, California, helped pioneer a special "investigative-learning" curriculum that inspires students to be seekers of knowledge. Many of my students have ipods. These mini music makers are captivating them…truth be told, my ipod touch captivates me! I feel as though we could use these ipods to, not only increase the interest factor of lessons, but also to encourage students to become involved in their learning process.

This could be used across the curriculum, so I thought I'd share it here. I actually have not used this, so if you do use it, share your experience with me.

Great first comment: Parents have the responsibility to monitor and guide children and teenagers. Of course kids will object. How many of us thought our parents were right when they tried to limit what we wanted to do? We must be wise enough as parents to know best and strong enough to stand up to the kids' anger. Bullies are not all the same, but their patterns of behavior, their tactics, are the same. That's why we can find ways to stop most of them. Sometimes, fighting is the key to success. If we don't stop bullies, they'll think we're easy prey. Like sharks, they'll just go after us more.

Ants are individually insignificant, but networked in a collaborative way, they literally move mountains! Networked teachers and educators like these I've mentioned are moving mountains too, and it is my hope that Student Teachers will see the value of becoming networked and having their students be networked too!

If you don't keep your mind open to new experiences, you are in the way of learning. If you take more than you give, you are in the way of learning. If you use your voice to tear apart learning metaphors, destroy other people's ideas, or make personal attacks, however passive aggressive, you are in the way of learning.
