This is an interesting infographic to demonstrate the volume of traffic on the internet. It covers instagram, facebook, skype, google searches, email, and so forth. It is a quick way to get a sense of the scope of information flow and connectivity.

On World Water Day, here is a collection of images from southern China, showing local activists fighting against industrial pollution in their waterways, and cancer sufferers in so-called "cancer villages", linked to pollution from hazardous chemicals.

This article from the Economist talks about China moving away--haltingly-- from the policy of tightly controlling the Yuan. I have used the Atlantic article, "The $1.4 Trillion Question" for years to discuss economic intergration and this is a nice update to that piece.

This NYT article describes a ten year plan to fund neuroscience research that is analogous (in terms of scope) to the human genome project. This article could be used in conjunction with technology discussions (like Kurzweil), aging (lots of implications for alzheimers, etc.), and/or role of governance (establishing long-term goals, funding, etc.)

There are many good videos at this site. They cover a wide range of issues covered in our courses and average 3-5 minutes in length.
