To blur the background of an image in Lightroom, use the Masking tool. Select "People" or "Subject" to isolate the subject, then choose "Invert" to target the background. Next, reduce the Texture, Clarity, and slightly lower the Sharpness sliders to create a soft blur effect. For a more pronounced blur, apply the Gaussian Blur option if using Lightroom with AI-powered updates. Fine-tune the edges using the Brush within the mask to ensure a natural transition between subject and background. Always zoom in to check for haloing or unnatural edges.
