Website highlights Social Studies (Geography, United States History, World History, Economics, and Government) sites. In order to make the list, these sites have to be accessible and challenging to English Language Learners and native-speakers alike.
Will need a username and password, but an excellent source and supplemental tool for every unit. Not only great for this particular text book, but applicable for several of their editions and grade levels.
This site is really interesting because it is a blogging website that is maintained through a high school teacher and her students. There is also a contact email if teachers were interested in getting permission to allow their students to blog about anything biology related. This would be a great way to incorporate technology into the classroom while allowing students to learn from videos, podcasts, and articles created by other students from around the United States.
This page is taken from a 'Teaching Math' blog. The specific entry is an idea that teachers could use to integrate a project into their unit that includes graphing linear equations. The students drew an animal with only straight lines and then had to determine the appropriate equation that matched up with the line drawn.
Over 1,000 videos of presenters at the TED Conference. The presentations cover all sorts of subjects, and are usually amazing and inspiring. These are a great way to spice up a unit or to incorporate into a related lesson.
This site will allow me to check the Standard Course of Study for English 9-12, as well as other courses and grades. I will use the site to complete unit plans, curriculums, and lesson plans.
Websites for English, Math, and Finance purposes. Includes sites that specialize in tracking old math calculations, to citing sources, applications for calendars and homework dates which notify via e-mail or SMS. Sites to translate units as well as translate text and much more!
Creative word webs are generated by this site and can be used to show unit/lesson vocabulary in a non-list sort of way. This site could also be used by students so they could make their own Wordle's with vocabulary that they found particularly important
This site allows you to make creative word clouds, which would be an interesting project or lesson (it would appeal especially to the visual learners).
