There are many speculations associated with breast implants; they go as big as cancer and as little as scar breast augmentation. I will share with you my true experience and share my true thoughts.

Flat and/or abnormal diurnal cortisol patterns found to be associated with earlier mortality in breast cancer.  The flatter cortisol pattern, the earlier the mortality.  Several points here: this highlights the impact of cortisol on the immune system.  Second, this reveals how much of the research has moved to saliva as the gold standard.  This study by the NCI, used salivary cortisol to evaluate the risk of breast cancer survivors.

study of 80,377 postmenopausal women found no increase/decrease in breast cancer in women on estradiol and progesterone (RR 1.0).  However, estradiol and provera (synthetic progestin) found a 69% increased breast cancer risk (RR 1.69).

absolutely crazy recommendation from authors of study from CDC: delay breast-feeding to improve effectiveness of rotavirus vaccine.  This was because the study proposed that the IgA from the mother's breast milk reduced the potency of the vaccine.  

free T3 levels found to be higher in breast cyst fluid than in serum. This correlated with elevated K+/Na+ ratio which is associated with malignant transformation.  This elevated free breast cyst fluid correlated with estradiol concentration

new study sheds serious doubt on the benefit of breast MRI for breast cancer screening.  NO correlation to improved survival can be drawn.  Conclusion: "...to date do not show clear benefit for MRI."  

5alpha pregnanes and 4 pregnanes stimulate ER and PR negative breast cancer cells.  Progesterone metabolites stimulate or inhibit cancer potential independent of receptor status.  Though we know that progesterone metabolite balance can increase receptor binding.

Prospective study finds that elevated total and free Estradiol levels in the follicular phase and elevated total and free Testosterone levels in both the follicular and luteal phase are associated with increased breast cancer in women.  The risk is for pre menopause in this study.  This and several other studies point to serious questions about the massive dosing of Testosterone via pellets, injections, and topicals for libido.  We appear to be following the same patter as seen with premarin, provera, now Testosterone in men and this may be the next ball to drop.  Is the Testosterone therapy merely producing an environment that feeds breast cancer?

Vitamin D supplementation finds no increased risk on breast cancer risk.  This is a negative study (meta-analysis) on vitamin D and breast cancer in postmenopausal women.  The strength of evidence lies with positive effects as numerous studies are documented in diigo here.

study finds increased BPA and phthalates in women is associated with increased breast density.

Elevated estradiol, estrone, and Testosterone increases breast cancer risk by 50 to 200% depending on the hormone(s) elevated.

As much fanfare that is given to ER/PR + breast cancer, the large percentage of breast cancers are ER/PR -.  Thus, hormonal therapy doesn't work...at least that is how the story goes. This study finds the metabolites of Progesterone to be equally telling.  Two Progesterone metabolites play significant roles in growth versus inhibition of growth.  The metabolite 5alpha-dihydroprogesterone is procarcingenic in in vitro and in vivo studies and the metabolite 3alpha-dihydroprogesterone inhibits the pro growth effects in the same in vitro and in vivo studies.

Higher vitamin D levels associated with lower death rates from breast cancer.  In fact, people with the highest levels of vitamin D had death rates cut in half.  The authors point to 3 ares that vitamin D has a positive effect against cancer: differentiation, apoptosis, and angiogenesis.
