SCoPE: Seminars: Tools for Collaborating Online: March 1-19, 2010 - 1 views

  •
"Facilitator:Emma Duke-WilliamsEmma Duke-Williams Collaboration is a term that is used quite loosely. What do we mean when we say we are collaborating? Why do we collaborate? What are the key characteristics that differentiate collaboration from cooperation and working independently? What tools support the collaborative process online? During this 3-week seminar we will use Google Wave and other emerging technologies to explore their potential for supporting online collaboration while addressing these and other questions. "

SCoPE: Seminars: Automating Instructional Design: June 6-24, 2011 - 0 views

  •
The purpose of this seminar is to share, learn, and discuss strategies and current projects in the area of automating the instructional design process. With the explosion of web 2.0, rapid e-learning design, online simulations, and other modes of training, it seems the time is right to pull together a tool that can aid the instructional designer in fitting the right type of training for the given purpose of the instruction. Is an electronic performance support system (EPSS) for designers desirable, possible? What should be included as the focus of any automated tool to instructional design?

Revisiting the Community of Inquiry Framework: July 9-22, 2012 - 1 views

  •
Revisiting the Community of Inquiry Framework: July 9-22, 2012 Facilitators:  Cindy Xin and  Sarah Haavind Since its original publication, Garrison, Anderson and Archer's (2000) "Critical Inquiry in A Text-based Environment: Computer Conferencing in Higher Education" has inspired a great many researchers and advanced our understanding of online learning and online education. In recent years, a number of reviews of the Community of Inquiry framework (CoI) have been published, including, Garrison and Arbaugh's (2007), Swan and Ice (2010). Cindy Xin, author of a recently-published critique (Xin, 2012) will be with us to explain her argument and, together with Sarah Haavind, facilitate a discussion reconsidering the CoI and its recent reviews and critiques. By provoking new thoughts and possibly constructing new theories and methods, we hope to further our understanding of online discussion in particular, and online education in general.

Abstract and Findings - Eportfolios: - 0 views

  •
This page introduces findings from Meg Goodine's examination of numerous case studies in comparison with broader post-secondary electronic portfolio research. "While not a silver bullet, with careful planning and attention to key questions, there is strong evidence that eportfolios can help students more authentically demonstrate what they have learned and connect this learning to their lives beyond our institutions." (Abstract, ¶4, retrieved 2010.06.07)

35 Great Social Media Infographics | pamorama - 0 views

  •
"Here's a collection of terrific social media infographics that might come in handy. As you probably know, infographics are visual representations of information, data, or knowledge. They illustrate information that would be unwieldy in text form and they act as a kind of visual shorthand, making information easy to understand and consume." http://scope.bccampus.ca/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=12021#p51371
