  India has made quite a progress in the medical field in the past few decades. The advanced technologies and regular efforts made by medical professionals, be it physicians or Ph.D's, has only led us to an era where we can enjoy high quality medical care and treatments. Many life threatening diseases that were believed to be incurable are just a memory in the past now. Regular researches conducted by various medical and research institutes & the tireless efforts of dedicated professionals all over the world have proved to be a boon for the medical field by lessening the impact of some of the greatest health diseases including heart diseases, diabetes and cancer.

  
  

  The Indian council of medical research- ICMR in New Delhi is one of the world's oldest medical- research bodies. Their priority is control and management of the communicable diseases, nutritional diseases, fertility control, child and maternal health, occupational diseases, and other research projects on the major non- communicable diseases like blindness, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Stem cell research has also become a famous, new and exciting field of research having a strong and novel potential in the clinical applications.

  
  

  Cancer once became one of the deadliest diseases haunting the populations, but the discovery of CSCs, i.e. the cancer stem cells launched a very new disciple in the medical research field. Stem cells are unspecialized immature cells capable of differentiating into any possible mature cell. Scientists and researchers are working towards identifying and characterizing populations of tumor-cells that acquire stem cell like properties and thus act as a potential source of therapeutic resistance. Also, the 'National centre of cell science' was the first to provide evidence that the ovarian cancer is a result of stem cell dysfunction. Their stem cell cancer research extensively provides evidence of a tumor specific endothelial hierarchy capable of a crucial role in ensuring a long- term survival and complementing cancer stem cell- driven tumor development & progression, by developing its vasculature.
