Online sites for creating videos so no software is needed. I have used WeVideo, which has gotten better apparently since I last tested it last month. Use Animoto regularly, but need to watch the pacing and slow down the videos. Zimmer Twins is fun site. Need to play with it more. Have used Screenr and other screencast tools, but Screenr is one I abandoned in favor of other options. More options for using online sites to create videos continue to pop up.
If you are interested in having students create book trailer via video, check this blog post. Even though it is on Hemingway's Old Man and Sea, the concept can be adapted for use with students of varied age groups. The video is also worth watching as an example of stop-motion animation.
A digital storytelling website. I would use it the same way i would use storybird. You can click on the animals, scenes, and type text. The published product looks more like a book than storybird.

A Weebly website created by a 2nd grade teacher, with a strong focus on digital storytelling and digital citizenship. There is also info on KidBlog, Edmodo, Storybird, Storyjumpber, and other sites to use with students in the grades 1-4.
This presentation was created in Live Binder and contains numerous resources related to digital storytelling. It contains one section on digital storytelling resources, and information and tutorials on using iMovie, and PhotoStory 3. Another section addresses video game design.

Wow! Lots of resources here. Plenty to explore. The digital storytelling tools are grouped by categories. Best of all, Byrne offers description of each and immediate links. Love that he did this with Google Sites. So easy to read and use to link to the sites.
