This chart is great,not only does it give you quite a few stress relief techniques, but it breaks it down to your senses! I have found that this chart really comes in handy on the really bad stressful days. The best way to use it is to try and pick something from each section(or sense) and do it! You will find that completing stress relief mechanisms in all your senses is extremely helpful!

Imagine being house-bound with little to no hope of getting out of the house again. Imagine losing your freedom and missing the long road on the back of a motorcycle. Now imagine being able to ride a motorcycle again with adaptations made so that you can do so independently. Here is one man's story about how he dug himself up out of depression post diagnosis. I posted this video on facebook. Some people left mean comments about it but I still think it is a wonderful invention. It states in the description that it is not meant for highway use. It has given this woman back some of her independence and I think it is worth it. No, you probably do not want to drive down the interstate with it but it;s great for getting around town at a slow and steady speed.

This is to neat! Slow and steady is good, and getting some independence back in a very healthy thing for a person who is wheelchair bound.

This peer-reviewed AJOT authored by Bracciano, McPhee, Rose details the appropriate use of physical agent modalities (PAMs) within the OT field. They discuss the facts regarding different categories of PAMs to include superficial thermal agents, deep thermal agents, electrotherapeutic agents, and mechanical devices. The authors explain the relevance of The Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Ethics Standards as it pertains to the use of PAMs.

I thought this article was very easy to read and informative at the same time. I liked the fact it was from the first Eleanor Clarke Slalge lecture. It tells about three different pieces of equipment: Tilt Table, Standing Table, and Bilateral Tilt Tables that encourage correct positions and body mechanics.

This is a video of activities that Aquatic Fitness does during work conditioning. It has several different lifting tasks and shows proper body mechanics. I think this would be good for clients but also for us as well.

Sometimes we are thinking consistently about the patient and not so much about the therapist, the body mechanics used, and the ergonomics to help prevent major problems later on!
