I really like these 5 tips on how to improve posture. Even though these are exercises I believe it would be a great idea to give clients information about these exercises to improve posture when they are away from our services.
Great list of tools from the AOTA that we can use for pediatric and geriatric patients. Even better, we can find them at the dollar store. Stock up on your next trip :)
As therapist we will probably have these awesome ideas on things we could do in therapy but are limited to a budget. Here are a bunch of therapy tools we can use that are super cheap!!
Sometimes we are thinking consistently about the patient and not so much about the therapist, the body mechanics used, and the ergonomics to help prevent major problems later on!
For those that love creative therapy ideas, this is the website for you! I looked through the different items they have to offer and was able to get so many ideas. This is a great resource for a COTA working in a school setting.
Visual Learner alert! Here is a great video demonstrating the box and blocks test with an actual pt. I loved watching this particular video because the pt is funny and gives the therapist a hard time(which will happen in real life!). If you like to watch videos of the tests we are learning watch this one!
Immobilizing your hand at night can be very crucial for some patients. I thought this website on how to make a homemade splint was very interesting and quite simple to make. I would recommend asking the doctor or therapist before using it, But some people prefer to do for themselves and this could be a good thing for that. Also you could incorporate the splint making in an actual therapeutic activity.
