Thank you so much for crafting this event! (9/22/2011) The workshops that let us connect with other schools and hear how others dealt with engagement were the best part of the day. Next steps: How do schools who think they are "Transforming" have a dialogue at the next level? Are Rowland fellows interested in facilitating more connections between schools that are at the same stage and facing the same obstacles as well as between schools at different stages along a spectrum of transformation?
The Rowland Foundation and its Fellows are very much interested in the kind of dialog you mention. An initials step are the workshops that we are offering during the current school year (found on the website). The conference in Burlington served as a major catalyst for the Foundation and the work of our Fellows. Our primary interest is to affect change across schools, beyond the ones we have directly funded. As we "debrief" the conference, we will be asking ourselves the very same question that you posted.
