Xi 8088 is an IBM PC/XT compatible processor board in ISA board form factor. It offers several enhancements over the standard IBM PC/XT, such as support of PS/2 keyboard and mouse and built-in real-time clock with NVRAM (also known as CMOS setup memory).
Many early IBM PC compatible games between 1981 and 1988 were known as PC booters. These games were distributed on 5¼" or, later, 3½", floppy disks that booted directly, meaning once they were inserted in the drive and the computer was turned on, a custom operating system on the diskette took over and ran the program. This was commonly used as a form of copy protection until it became obsolete as games grew larger.
