Books and articles are listed on two general pages in chronological order, and are also classified under fifteen themes. The articles are downloadable - apart from a few cases where I no longer have a copy (please get in touch if you can supply copy for these missing links)."

If you want to learn how to learn English vocabulary, you need to know which words to learn.\nIf you are a teacher, you also need to know which words your students need to learn.\nCambridge English Lexicon was first published in 1980, and the fifth printing was in 1991. There might have been further printings, but it seems to be out of print now.\nTHE GOOD NEWS is that Amazon does have a few second hand copies available at very cheap prices, so get in quick if you want to buy one of these rare gems!

Five Card Flickr "This quasi experimental web site is designed to foster visual thinking. It is based completely, or more loosely... copied, from the Five Card Nancy game devised by comics guru Scott McCloud and the nifty web version at 741.5 Comics. However, rather than drawing from a hand of randomly chosen panels of the nancy comic, my version draws upon collections of photos. You are dealt five random photos for each draw, and your task is to select one each time to add to a selextion of images, that taken together as a final set of 5 images- tell a story in pictures. When you are done, you the option to save the story so you can put a link in your resume or send to your Mom (she pay print it out and tape it to the fridge, or she may criticize your creativity, your mileage and mom may vary)."

Visuals for Foreign Language Instruction is a free gallery of images hosted by the University of Pittsburgh's Digital Research Library. The gallery contains nearly 500 drawings of people conversing, scenes in houses and buildings, and objects commonly found in houses. You'll also find drawings scenes in cities, in stores, and in nature. The visuals are all drawn cartoon style without any text or speech bubbles.
