Jeff Utecht's blog entry about a novel way to teach students search skills. Give students and start and end point. Eg. 3rd Grade - give students: Rocks and Volcanoes. Start with Rocks and create a search story that gets them to end the search story with how Rocks and Volcanoes are related.

Google's created a series of lessons to help you guide your students to use search meaningfully in their schoolwork and beyond. Search Literacy lessons are broken down based on level of expertise in search: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced.

Pinterest is the fastest growing virtual corkboard website in the world. You can search topics and then bookmark them on boards which you create. Warning, it is slightly addictive!

This YouTube channel has an abundant choice of resources for the VCE student. It was established by a young man who felt there was a need to provide current and relevant information about research skills, study techniques, a guide to write the perfect English essay and especially how to fine tune a search using Google. Each topic is delivered in easy speak and lasts for less than four minutes. I would highly recommend this site for students who are looking for quick sound bytes on surviving VCE.

Lots of historical documents can be found here. Wills and probate before 1925 can now be viewed in digital form and can be downloaded. Great for those researching their Victoria family history.
