What is honestly the meaning of global warming? Global warming is when the temperature rises on earth. This happens when gases such as carbon dioxide, water vapor, nitrous oxide, and methane trap light and heat from the sun because of greenhouse gases. Said by Professor Thompson "Apart from the dramatic impact on local impact it is also a potent sign that the earth is undergoing enormous changes." Glaciers are melting and that is true proof that there is a deadly climate change going on through the earth. Glaciers are mountains that have a bunch of snow on them and because of the greenhouse effect it is causing these glaciers to melt which is taking a lot away from us such as water. The greenhouse effect is when gases get in the air and warm the air. Global warming is definitely life threatening but there are some ways to prevent it.
What are some ways to prevent global warming from taking its course? There are all types of ways to prevent global warming. These ways may be hard to accomplish but they will pay off after global warming is no longer a threat on earth. Recycling, save energy, throw away your trash, A bath takes up to four times more energy than a shower, to save more energy dodge taking power showers and use low flow shower heads which provide the same comfort and is cheaper. "The issue of climate change is one that we ignore at our own peril. There may still be disputes about exactly how much we are contributing to the warming of the earth's atmosphere and how it is exactly occurring, but what we can be scientifically certain of is that our continued use of fossil fuels is pushing us to a point of no return and unless we don't free ourselves from a dependence on these fossil fuels and chart a new course on energy in this country, we are condemning future generations to global catastrophe. These things are critical to preventing global warming or else the earth is in big trouble.

Recycling is when you covert plastic bottles and paper and reuse so that you can save other materials that you would normally have to use to create plastic bottles and paper. By recycling half the junk your house produces you can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide in a year. All recycling takes is putting paper and plastic bottles into a bucket and letting people pick it up. It doesn't take much only a little effort. Recycling is as easy as taking candy away from a baby.

You can do this by telling yourself that it is helping the environment. Next, when you are leaving a room make sure to turn of the lights because a light bulb normally holds up to 60 watts of energy. Also when you leave your house and times like that unplug your fans, lamps, and televisions. Finally, after your done brushing your teeth and washing your hands make sure that you turn the water all the way off. These are just a few ways to prevent global warming but you can do a lot more.

The glaciers are melting so that means it will make us have less and less water. It affects the food chain because when less water starts to occur there won't be as much salmon as normal, which means the bears, won't have as much to eat. The bears will have to eat other animals that other animals already eat and it will just go down hill from there. The arctic is melting speedily, and this place may have its first non ice summer by 2040 or earlier. Native cultures and polar bears are already suffering because of sea-ice loss. It will affect the weather because when it makes the ocean get warmer that will cause stronger hurricanes and tornadoes. Also, food will be wiped out dry because of such hot weather.
