Five months from now, and after two years delay, Essex County will hold its first tax sale. Homes that have been seized by the government for unpaid back taxes will be sold on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 10 am at the Ticonderoga Best Western Resort. The last tax deed auction was held in June 2009. Included as part of the sale will be properties owing taxes since as far back as 2006, and 2007. According to county attorney, Daniel Manning III, County Judge Richard Meyer and auctioneer, Edward Haroff have signed off on the list of properties.
