Free online books to read. Some of the books also contain audio links in which you can hear the book being read. Great practice for anyone learning to read. I like these because adults who may not be able to read to their children can enjoy the experience with their children and learn also.

Illustrated children's stories for kids of all ages
  •
Great because it has selections for young adults as well and older and younger children and some of the stories have audio. It also offers a more student friendly type quizzes section to self-check comprehension.

Mr. Bobo's Remarkable Mouse Circus- The Official Neil Gaiman Website for Young Readers - 1 views

This is my favorite author's website for his children's books. His most recent books, The Graveyard Book, Coraline and Odd and the Frost Giants, were written for older children. You can watch the author read eight chapters of The Graveyard Book on videos he has posted to the site.

    Books read online to students.

Actors from the Screen Actors Guild reading stories for children a-loud. A helpful activity for ELL and all beginning learners so that they can hear English spoken using stories they will enjoy!
  •
This site has actors reading stories, which is a wonderful model for building fluency and especially for experiencing prosody (expressive reading). I like it best because it has some of my childhood favorites like Harry, the Dirty Dog (read by Betty White!). There is also a good story for Black History month (White Socks Only).

This is a cute game that young children can plan when they are learning to pronounce words and learning what words are associated with in real life.

This one is my favorite. It has stories from all over the world that are told by a lady in a video. There are also games that go with the stories!
