The Florida Center for Reading Research was established in January, 2002. It is jointly administered at Florida State University by the Learning Systems Institute and the College of Arts and Sciences. It has a lot of literacy resources.

xtimeline is a free website that lets you create timelines and explore timelines about history, biography and more. This could be a great resource to use for social studies projects.

I like this idea! We make timelines very often in social studies, and this would be a great resource for students to plan their writing on an informational topic for social studies. Thanks for this useful link!

I do not have a document camera in my own classroom- but have just become aware that I am able to borrow one from the media center at my school as needed! I have never used one in a classroom- so was curious to see what I could do with it- check out these great ideas for uses of a document camera with your students!

Voki is a FREE service that lets you: A classroom management system for Voki I use a voki on my wiki to speak to people who visit- peope tell me they always play it to hear what it has to say. I should change it every week and put important things there so everyone will hear the news who visits the wiki. Maybe next year :) Try it out- its free and fun! You can even record your own voice or use one they have on the site.

Another teacher and I at my old school spend hours typing all the words from the Words their Way books into spelling city. We completed the red, yellow, green, and blue books. This website has several free activities for students to work on to help them with their word patterns. The other teacher that helped me was Allison Eckard and the site link is under her name as she was the computer teacher who helped me set the account up. For now, the site is still up and running- I no longer teach at the school she is at, and I just hope she wont delete everything I had typed in for the patterns. Enjoy while it is still up and running :-)

This was an interesting article. I believe that we reap what we sow like the article said, but we need help from the public to provide opportunities (such as laptops for all) for students. Teachers can't do it all on our own.
