A great resource for teachers. It is a kid friendly and teacher friendly search engine for lesson plans, activities, and interactives. I use this a lot in my classroom, and the search results are great. I have found several reading links as well as social studies and science connection links for reading.

Easy-to-use online scheduling software. Teachers create a customized schedule as well as notice and reporting settings in minutes. I think I might try it for my class next year for meetings, and maybe add Skype conferences.

Reading Rockets offers a wealth of reading strategies, lessons, and activities designed to help young children learn how to read and read better.The reading resources assist parents, teachers, and other educators in helping struggling readers build fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.

I have gotten really great reading strategies from this website.

This site has a ton of reading tips, strategies, lessons, technological resources, and activities geared to help parents, teacher, and all involved with teaching/learning reading! There are author interviews here as well!

Just what it says. Not clear when this article was written, but each of the blogs is described in a paragraph and a link provided to it.

I didn't mean to repost this one. I really liked some of the blogs that I looked at.

This site gives a brief definition of what literacy means. It points out that literacy is not just knowing isolated pieces of information, but rather having the ability to use language in broader ways. This site also provides literature "Research" information and additional websites and resources for teachers.

I thought this site was very detailed and thought through to help assist teachers or educators with their questions about literacy. On the website you will find the definition of literacy, their literacy beliefs, literature review, action research, references, and favorite literacy web sites. Under literacy beliefs, they have broken down the term into four categories- learner, curriculum, teacher, and assessment. This is great for educators as they can read specific beliefs on literacy based on the specific topic of interest or need.

Another teacher and I at my old school spend hours typing all the words from the Words their Way books into spelling city. We completed the red, yellow, green, and blue books. This website has several free activities for students to work on to help them with their word patterns. The other teacher that helped me was Allison Eckard and the site link is under her name as she was the computer teacher who helped me set the account up. For now, the site is still up and running- I no longer teach at the school she is at, and I just hope she wont delete everything I had typed in for the patterns. Enjoy while it is still up and running :-)

Two teachers created this resource. Useful high frequency lists of words and phrases (a little dated--you will note lots of "he" and "his" in phrases but no "she" and only a few "her." Good resource of word wall content for different purposes and grade levels.

Interesting and rich variety of resources on an exploding art form. Nothing for beginning writers and not much for teachers, but tremendous launch pad for exploring the growing range of e-poetry/digital poetry.

Lots of resources for English teachers seeking ideas for tech supports for English language arts. Not focused on kids with disabilities, but lots of teaching ideas, links, and resources.

Looks like great potential to support tech-supported process writing approaches. Free for teacher and up to 40 students.

This site has many resources for teachers from a mentor teacher. There are also resources that have been made by her or other people and that she has links to on the site. Lots of great ideas and helpful resources...check it out!

These free applications provide a wide variety of engaging learning opportunities for young students (and you can't beat the price). The Apple iPad is becoming more popular in our schools every day (just check out this EmergingEdTech video to appreciate how quickly the iPad is gaining hold in our schools).

This teacher blog has links to technology sites. I have used the "Sweet Search" that was featured and had quick usable results!

This website is great for teachers who are looking to create a blog for their own classroom. I think it is wonderful that teachers can create their own blog and have parents jump on the internet to see everything that is going on in their child's classroom. This website links to a site that takes you step-by-step through the process of creating a blog.

I have said it before.. I think I'm addicted to teacher blogs. Now there's a site for me!!! This blog has a little of everything. Check out the St. Patrick's Day & Dr. Seuss Day ideas.

This is a great example of what can be done in a classroom anywhere to connect students to the rest of the world. It is very inspiring!! Teacher Vicki Davis is very innovative. She uses wikis, blogs, podcasts, virtual worlds, and other new media tools to connect students in rural Georgia to the world.

This is a neat blog I found that has cool ideas about ipad integration in the classroom, apps to use, and other resources for 21st century learners.

Whether you use a reading workshop approach or not, guided reading is a component of literacy that many K-5 teachers use in their classroom. I want our sessions to have a comfortable feeling where students can ask questions, try new strategies, and work together to become more strategic readers.
