Study Island is a web-based system designed to help students master their content standards. It includes academic content that is designed to be fun and engaging, and it consists of practice, assessment, and reporting tools built around each state's standards. Because it's web-based, students can use the system at school or at home.

Great site I use with my 5th graders! Study Island is a leading provider of standards-based assessment, instruction, and test preparation software programs for K-12 students.

This is a neat website that would allow students to view and use panoramic pictures for a project.

This is a great example of what can be done in a classroom anywhere to connect students to the rest of the world. It is very inspiring!! Teacher Vicki Davis is very innovative. She uses wikis, blogs, podcasts, virtual worlds, and other new media tools to connect students in rural Georgia to the world.

Elizabeth, I agree! With all of the new ideas we are learning to implement in our classrooms, an option to take a grant writing class would be beneficial. I appreciate your find here.

This site has info. on new children's books and classics. It also provides Trivia questions on books and gives kid friendly author information. May be good to use with author studies in the classroom.

Monster Exchange is designed to encourage the development of reading and writing skills while integrating Internet technology into the classroom curriculum. Classrooms from schools worldwide are paired together; the students in each classroom are split into groups, each of which designs an original picture of a monster. They then write a description of the monster and the other group must recreate the drawing using only their description.

This site is an alternative for Microsoft Office and it's free. You have 1GB storage for each user. The best part about this site is that it is online so you can pull up your files from any computer!
