This is a great website for use with special needs children or all ages of children. It provides a user-friendly site in which there are not an over-running of ads. Also there are pictures and text! Great for looking up almost anything in guided reading, independent activities, and group activities!

TIME FOR KIDS is a news magazine geared toward students in grades K-6. Timeforkids.com offers age-appropriate news stories and features about children's books, movies, the environment, science, world cultures and other high-interest topics. Students can find easy-to-use homework help, grammar and punctuation practice, writing tips and a flash-card maker. My kids like seeing whats going on in the world and we read it as a class. I know also, that our literacy program next year (Treasures) is using time for kids too!

The official web site of the Gaston-Lincoln Regional Library, Gaston County, North Carolina. Through the tab "online databases" you can get free access to tumble books and start squad which are both nice literacy rich sites for younger kids. Also has research guides on a variety of subjects online.

The World Book web site offers an encyclopedia, dictionary, atlas, homework help, study aids, and curriculum guides. World Book is publisher of the World Book Encyclopedia.
