The Ebola epidemic hit a particular nerve with the artist. "People in the African continent are more regarded as an abstract statistic than a patient in the U.S. or Europe," he said. "How many individual stories do we know about any African patients? None. They are treated as an indistinguishable crowd."

Facebook and Apple have both announced an uncommon program to help their female employees lean all the way in. The tech giants will now cover the cost of egg-freezing treatments for women (and their male partners) who want to delay their family plans in favor of advancing their careers.

The news: This week, PBS and documentary filmmaker Whitney Dow launched the first installment of the "Whiteness Project," a thorough and well-intentioned interview series that aims to make white Americans open up about their racial identities. Dow has started his goal to interview 1,000 white Americans across the country to obtain their unfiltered views on race.
