Granta magazine presents Alex Kotlowitz, discussing his seminal studies of inner-city American life. Alex Kotlowitz is the author of Never a City So Real, The Other Side of the River and the bestselling There Are No Children Here, chosen by the New York Public Library as one of the 150 most important books of the twentieth century and subsequently made into a film starring Oprah Winfrey. For twenty-five years, Kotlowitz has been writing about America from the ground up, exploring the fissures in the urban landscape. He will be in discussion with Granta deputy editor, Ellah Allfrey.
