Wal-Mart Brazil Thinks Green - BusinessWeek - 1 views

  •
Walmart in Brazil has taken the "Green" approach and is protecting the enviornment. Here is their plan: No companies that employ slave labor; "forced" labor is a rampant problem in developing countries. * No soybeans sourced from illegally deforested areas; 20% of the world's carbon emissions (and 70% of Brazil's emissions) come from burning down trees. * No beef sourced from any newly cleared Amazonian land; globally, deforestation emits more carbon than all vehicles. Brazil and Indonesia are at the heart of this enormous challenge.

This group has come together because three guys saw a moral and ethical problem and wanted to do what they could to change it.

  • Corporate Idealists are the change agents we must recognize and support if we are to tackle the biggest challenges facing our world today: climate change, food and water shortages, economic disparity. Big business can either solve or exacerbate those problems; Corporate Idealists are working to make it the former, not the latter.
  •
Coporate idealists want to make change for businesses to do good and they believe it is within our reach.

Toyota's announcement of a technical fix for its sticky gas pedals - which can lead to sudden acceleration problems - is not likely to bring a quick end to the company's current recall nightmare. Having already halted sales and production of eight of its top-selling cars in the U.S.

Not getting by on minimum wage - 0 views

  •
Americans are having a tough time supporting themselves and their famlies on minimum wage. Problem is America needs to create more jobs for the unemployed and also help those that are employed that are barely getting by.
  •
I would also suggest American's not being "too good" for tough, dirty and lower end jobs. I think there are jobs out there, but American's don't want to do them. Who does? Immigrants that want to get out of their country or plan on sending the money back home.
