I know! I always thought they were upgrading both software and the device itself. But, apparently we've been "fooled" and only the ipod's look has been updated.

And each year, we pay more for it
    • Jennifer Norman

i just cant believe that they want to take it out of the market!!! apple sucks
    • Eduardo Camino

Yes!! I always thought that they were constantly changing them, every year or so.
    • Isabela Cortines

wow, 54 million ipods Apple sold last year!
  • But the iPod Classic has one killer advantage: It features an amazing 160 GB of space for music, which is enough for 40,000 songs.
    • Manuel Alejandro

I thought that for 160 GB you could get more than 40,000 songs
    • Marifer Cantisano

I like the ipod classic way better than the newer versions of ipod, so I really hope it doesn't go off the market.
    • marco de moya

yeah me too. i like the normals ipod form
    • Alex Bostian

Wow! I can't belive that in 2009 Apple sold over 54 million iPods and they only sold around 300,000 in 2002!
    • Zalia Cabreja

Wow!! In the year 2002 Apple sold 381,000 units. But the sold about 54 million iPods last year. That's so cool!!!
    • Manuel Alejandro

Amazing! 160GB of space on that little iPod
    • Demetrio Rodriguez

it's incredible how an older ipod such as the classic has more space than the itouch which is more advanced
    • marco de moya

im my opionion, the classic ipod is better because is more resistent that the ipod tuch or which ever other. because the ipod touch is touch screen, i personally think they could get damaged easier
  • That's not bad, but it's peanuts compared to the 54 million iPods Apple sold last year.
  • And that's 16,000 songs if you don't fill it up with anything else. The iPod Touch's memory is typically crammed with apps and high definition video, which aren't exactly small files.
  • It wasn't until the January 2004 debut of the more affordable iPod Mini that iPod sales really took off. In 2002, the iPod's first full year of availability, Apple sold 381,000 units.
  • Apple's decision to completely ignore the iPod Classic means that 2010 will be the first year in the iPod's nine-year history in which the Classic doesn't get even a slight upgrade.
  • the iPod Classic has one killer a
  • That's plenty for most music lovers, but it will set you back $399 -- $150 more than the $249 iPod Classic.
    • Eduardo Camino

The iPod touch costs from $399 for 64 GB of music and the iPod classic costs $249 for 160 GB, thats almost 3 times as more memory than the iPod touch for lot less money

I already through out my ipod and old phone. Now I just use my dfoid as my everything, it is much simpler and more reliable in my opinion.

I have always thought of Apple being arrogant. But they do have some of the best electronics so of course they are arrogant..
    • Miguel Barcelo

I think that apple is advancing too much and because of that, they will loose a lot of customers.
    • Mikaela Selman

Every ipod has its own technological use.
  • Apple has a reputation of being arrogant
  • its innovations take it a step too far
    • Manuel Fernandez

The people who control this industry should try to change the way people see their company and try to please the cunsumers; after all, we are their life-line.
    • anna luiza marques

I bought the new shuffle and i didnt like the new technology about the headphones because if you loose the headphones then you cant use your ipod anymore, so it is not very efficient.
  • The company likes to push its customers to stay on technology's cutting edge -- and sometimes, its innovations take it a step too far.
  • Apple has a reputation of being arrogant
  • Apple did away with the buttons, replacing them with a confusing control pad on the headphones and sparking a backlash. But to Apple's credit, it listened to its customers' complaints about the switch: Jobs noted this week that people "clearly liked the buttons," and Apple put the controls back on the actual device in the fourth-generation version that will go on sale later this month
  • Would Apple kill off a device that still has a cult following? Maybe. The company likes to push its customers to stay on technology's cutting edge -- and sometimes, its innovations take it a step too far.
    • danielle barkhausen

As I have seen, Apple eliminates some devices in order to keep people on the edge. For example now in days people who used to have the original Nano ipod know that they dont work as before and they dont sell them anymore in the stores. Apple as they say like to push their cutomers on the edge of technology and up to date.
    • Konrad Obritzhauser

The ipod classic is more preferable by people who don't mind its physical size in exchange for more memory.
  •
I can't believe there would not be anymore updates for ipod classic:S i think im in troublee:S:(:(:( , i am going to have to buy a new ipod:(
