Top Union ministers and BJP leaders have been campaigning in PM Narendra Modi's Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh with an aim to not only win but break the record for margin of victory in the constituency. Several Union ministers like External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, and I&B and Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore have already campaigned in Varanasi.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced development projects worth Rs. 500 crore while addressing a meeting in Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency. The projects mainly involve improvised transport facilities, a better railways, roadways and inland waterways connection in Varanasi.

While addressing booth workers of two Lok Sabha constituencies- Tehri and Haridwar, BJP President Amit Shah reiterated his party's stand on the sensitive Ayodhya issue. He said Ram Temple would be built at the disputed site. He also asked Congress President Rahul Gandhi to clarify his stand.

High voltage drama ensued at the residence of politician Vanteru Pratap Reddy on Monday, as he attempted to take his life, following a raid by police. In the upcoming assembly elections, Reddy is contesting from Gajwel constituency, on People's Front ticket. Reddy alleged police tried to 'kill him'.

LAHORE: As many as 80 polling stations out of 284 have been declared sensitive due to security concerns in by-poll in the National Assembly constituency NA-122. According to police authorities, the constituency has also been declared Red Zone where strict security arrangements would be made with deployment of 5,000 policemen.

It seems former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh didn't want to take any chances on Sunday, even if it meant giving up his democratic right. Singh, who is locked in a straight battle for the Bhopal Lok Sabha seat with BJP's Pragya Thakur, didn't leave the constituency and missed voting in Rajgarh.
