Health Insurance Companies continue to perpetuate the fairy tale about "cost-shfting"--the notion that the cost of uncompensated care for the uninsured is "shifted" onto the backs of insurance companies and their enrollees. This is an outright lie, and a whopper at that.

So Sullivan appeals to the conservative and Christian roots he shares with Bush and calls for the former president to "reject categorically the phony legalisms, criminal destruction of crucial evidence, and retrospective rationalizations used to pretend that none of this happened. It happened." Bush must, Sullivan writes, say a public mea culpa to the American people, as Ronald Reagan did in response to the Iran-Contra scandal. If not, Sullivan warns that a future president might "resort to the same brutalizing policy, with the same polarizing, demoralizing, war-crippling results. I am writing you now because it is within your power-and only within your power-to prevent that from happening."

I watched All in the Family last night and realized that I learned everything I know about politics from Archie Bunker. Archie was the epitome of the gruff old bigot, he couldn't hold a candle to the birthers, truthers, and speech censorers. You never thought he was dangerous to anyone other than himself.

WSJ - Hosny shouldn't lose just because of the anti-Israel fiasco, but because of "the unbroken social, political and cultural repression in Egypt under his tenure." Interesting, I've not made my mind up on this either.

A well thought through article on why the BBC should let racist far-right BNP leader Griffin speak on Question Time. Not sure where I stand on this yet though.
