National Geographic annually hold a photo contest. Photographers from around the world take part in this competition. There are many categories of the competition like travel, nature,people, places etc. Following are some examples of entries from the National-Geographic Photo Contest 2011.

Winter is the best time for landscape photographers and winter photographs are always appreciated by the lovers of of landscape photography. The beauty of ice and snow fascinate the nature lovers and gleaming golden evenings and moonlit nights are just perfect to shoot. Life on the poles like Penguins remain active with a different grace and endure in this harsh environment and are perfect for winter photography. One have to be careful while shooting in winter from hypothermia for both himself and his camera. We were up in the Malheur National Forest last Saturday and got a couple photographs. Guy had planned to go to a spot for photographs where we would hike around. This was the first trip in our dodge ram we just picked up. Our chevy suburban is no longer and we like the Ram truck, but we really loved the suburban and of course it was paid off. WOW did things not go as planned!

I like watching the squirrels and the chipmunks. This pair of Siskiyou Chipmunks was seen on our National Grasslands and we really do not see to many there.

Your Shot member Andy Chisolm was taking a break from a rigorous surfing session when he captured from the flybridge of his boat this photo of a "feeding frenzy." The rock towering above the waves-Eddystone, an ancient remnant of the mainland-is about 27 kilometers (17 miles) off the coast of Tasmania, Australia, and some seabirds have been recorded nesting there. In this photo, New Zealand fur seals join albatrosses and seagulls in the apparent feast.
