American Dipper Bird - 0 views

  •
The Dipper is a great bird to find around unpolluted waters. I happened to catch this one along the Metolius River. When these dippers blink their eyes it looks funky with the white feathers, turns their eyes white! These dippers have a extra eye lid to allow them to see underwater. Now that would be rather cool to do! It is said they have scales that close there nose when they go underwater where they get their food at. These are funny to watch, this one just stood there and really did not mind the intrusion. Fact is I walked away before this dipper went away. This dipper new it was safe.

Wild Golden Eagle - 0 views

  •
I like birds, always have. You will find I have many shots of birds of all kinds. This golden eagle was a character. First sighting of a golden eagle in the canyon for the both of us here. I noticed the tree he was perched in just did not look right. We were coming up out of the canyon where we were watching the Bald Eagles fish. This golden eagle did come out of no where to check us and the dogs out. Of course my camera was set up for the bald eagles..... This golden eagle really did startle us! This is the first photograph I got of him,

Mule Deer Doe and Buck On A Snowy Day - 0 views

  •
One thing about wildlife, they still have to get out in the weather and do their thing. Saturday we got snowed on. Wildlife was still doing their thing. Here are some of the mule deer photographs. Now the buck did not run, but he did not think it wise to stick around either. I am very happy that my canon camera has a nice body for this extreme weather!! My poor camera!! It gets rained on, snowed on, than we have the other extremes of high, dry temperatures here in the high desert.

Far from perfect: The composition of the page itself needs work and having larger versions of the images available would be nice. But we do get to have fun watching the photographer emphasize the fact that this is both a forest and a marine environment, as he shoots his colorful (but not garish) images through the ripples.

A group of photos taken in two places that Chicagoans find convenient, when they escape from the winter: largish domed gardens, a little big to just be called "greenhouses"; these places have full grown trees living inside of them. Emphasis, chosen by those submitting, seems to have been on shots taken very close in - "macros".

Stavkirke, Washington Island on Flickr - Photo Sharing! - 0 views

  •
Just a photo. The style of this church in Wisconsin is a very old one, going back to Scandinavia (esp. Norway), possibly having been based on the pre-Christian architecture of the region, given the antiquity of some of the remaining stavkirchen. This one, however, was built the inhabitants of an island in Lake Michigan that saw a large influx of immigrants from Norway, who would seem to have brought their culture with. It is said to be a popular site for weddings.

Bob, whom I have "known" (but have yet to meet) since uncovering his photo site, notraces.com quite a few years ago has a camera addiction, an addiction to photography that I consume and enjoy. He's simply a damn good shooter, his intimate images of his family are just worth seeing, twice. His favorite camera, Leica, and he knows how to create some fantastic images w/ that Leica of his, or one of the many, many, many other cameras he's acquired and admires. You can also find Bob here @ Flickr - www.flickr.com/photos/notraces/

Northern Harrier Bird Of Prey mrsroadrunner A Wildlife, Nature Photographer, Oregon - 0 views

  •
I am very pleased to get these shots of this Northern Harrier. I got these a couple hours ago down the road where we have seen this bird and another or so in a pasture. These birds have been seen on private land and I do not trespass so when this opportunity arose today, while this Northern Harrier was not on the private land I took it! While doing my research on this bird I came to realize why this bird of prey had a problem being still for me. Blending in is what I try to do with the environment, but being quiet is another story. This bird realize on hearing as much as sight when hunting. This bird was hearing me coming! The male and female of the species look very different I found out as well. This Harrier is the male of the species. I thought this Northern Harrier was on some prey, however after looking over the photographs it appears to be on some grasses.

Living in Jefferson County Oregon one thing is true, we have fires. We also have VERY good fire fighters here! Everyone gets in the act. Water is turned on, volunteers stop what they are doing and jump in their trucks and off they run to whatever fire happens to break out!

Living in the Stills - 0 views

Notes: Exposure - The light meter is different from the exposure setting. - Keeping your light meter at "0" doesn't necessarily mean it's the perfect setting. Just don't stray too far from the "0". Adjust to your liking. - Positive numbers on your exposure setting will make your photos brighter. - Negative numbers make your photos darker. Aperture - Small numbers (like f/1.4) have larger openings, which let in more light. - Big numbers (like f/16) have smaller openings, which let in less light. Shutter Speed - Seeing 100, 250, 320, etc. on your viewfinder means "1/(number seen)", like "1/100". - Try not to use 1/60 or less when handheld, that's when you use a tripod or look for something steady. - Using longer exposure (slow shutter speed) will let in more light. - Using shorter exposure (fast shutter speed) will let in less light. ISO - ISO is the sensitivity of your camera to light - Lower numbers are less sensitive to light, which give smoother photos. - Higher numbers are very sensitive to light, which give very grainy and noisy photos.

Grainy Photos and How to Correct Them - Common Problems with Your Photography: Part 4 |... - 0 views

    • Pablo Avila

Important to remember to avoid grainy photos.
  • High ISO – As we briefly talked, higher the ISO, higher is the amount of grain. Low light – Photos become grainy if enough light was not available when the photo was taken. Too slow shutter speed – One school of thought believes if shutter speed is very low and light is low, photos may have lot of grain and noise. Camera – High-end DSLRs usually perform better in low light and handle high ISO with minimum noise. Same can not be said about low end DSLRs and point and shoot cameras. These type of camera have a small sensor, leading to high noise as effective light getting to sensor is lesser than if it were a high-end DSLR, which have a bigger and better responsive sensor. Excessive Post Processing – Another reason for grainy photos is over adjustment in post production. When sharpness of a photo is increased, grains/pixels in a photo become more prominent. If this adjustment is overdone, photo becomes grainy in no time.
