Stereotype threat is the idea that societal stereotypes of our identity group can profoundly influence our performance in areas that our group is stereotyped as lacking in (i.e. women in high level math classes, white men in sports, african americans in academics). More of a psychological idea, but may have interesting philosophical implications. Can we escape stereotype threat? Or does trying to avoid it make us more vulnerable?
