Isis Unveiled by H. P. Blavatsky, vol 1, chap 1 - 3 views

  • human body was of a half-ethereal nature; and that, before the fall, mankind communed freely with the now unseen universes. But since that time matter has become the formidable barrier between us and the world of spirits.

amazing concept...the idea that as beings we may have been ghost/spirit like...more subtle in energy....now in phenomenal form or gross form we have lost ability to connect with or communicate with other spiritual entities ?
  • For a man of science to refuse an opportunity to investigate any new phenomenon, whether it comes to him in the shape of a man from the moon, or a ghost from the Eddy homestead, is alike reprehensible.

Helena is referring to the Eddy house in which she accessed the restless spirits in there. Strange phenomenal events were reported by those who attended...including loud noises, moving furniture, and poltergeist occurences.

Pythagoras attempted to "free the soul from the fetters of sense and force it to realize its powers..." Fetter of sense? In Buddhism it is taught that the 5 senses are hinderances to liberation of the mind from the body and lower desires. But here it may be that the word sense is used to desribe mans rationale or logic. We are always making sense of things in order to avoid mistakes that compromise our abilty to survive. Maybe Pythagoras saw the mind as a hinderance because we are then unable to realize the power of our emanating force our vital force or soul.
  • The harmony and mathematical equiformity of the double evolution — spiritual and physical — are elucidated only in the universal numerals of Pythagoras, who built his system entirely upon the so-called "metrical speech" of the Hindu Vedas
  • Pythagorean and Brahmanical systems
  • In both, the esoteric significance is derived from the number
  • in the former, from the mystic relation of every number to everything intelligible to the human mind
  • in the latter, from the number of syllables of which each verse in the Mantras consists

The "Energy Source" The Wands of Horus & the Structures of Deep Meditation For long millennia the great pyramids preserved the mystery of a "secret room" containing, according to legend, either secrets of a special kind or some sort of knowledge that would give the finder power over the world.

The Secret Doctrine by H. P. Blavatsky, Vol 1, bk 1, stanza 1 - 10 views

  • The Hinayana System, or School of the “Little Vehicle,” is of very ancient growth; while the Mahayana is of a later period, having originated after the death of Buddha. Yet the tenets of the latter are as old as the hills that have contained such schools from time immemorial, and the Hinayana and Mahayana Schools (the latter, that of the “Great Vehicle”) both teach the same doctrine in reality. Yana, or Vehicle (in Sanskrit, Vahan) is a mystic expression, both “vehicles” inculcating that man may escape the sufferings of rebirths and even the false bliss of Devachan, by obtaining Wisdom and Knowledge, which alone can dispel the Fruits of Illusion and Ignorance.

great explanation in regard to Mahayana teachings being seen as something new and surpassing Hinayana wisdom but as explained both have connections and Mahayana wisdom can be traced back to much earlier dates
