After her two children were diagnosed with a rare genetic condition, Sharon Terry dedicated her life to creating systems-level solutions that will alleviate burdens for consumers and build opportunities for them to be empowered in their own health care. She is the CEO of Genetic Alliance, an international non-profit organization, now in its 25th year, that is the world's largest network of health related organizations working from a consumer perspective. Genetic Alliance builds capacity within the genetics and health community by forging novel partnerships, promoting informed decision-making, and sharing individual, family, and community perspectives.

There are a significant number of genetics curriculum resources designed by different companies, curriculum development outlets, state curriculum designers and individual teachers. What resources are good? How do you know? As part of the Geneticist-Educator Network of Alliances (GENA) Project, a Curriculum Content Review Committee was formed to review readily available classroom resources about patterns of inheritance. Click here to see original evaluation form used by the committee and here to see the summary of the committee's review.

ASHG Lesson Plans | ASHG - 0 views

  •
Many of the following lessons were developed by Geneticist-Educator Network of Alliances (GENA) teams and have been further adapted by ASHG for use in high school (or advanced middle school) life sciences classrooms. These are identified by GENA cohort in the database. However, we have expanded the database to also include lessons developed through other ASHG programs, such as the High School Workshop. All lessons are intended to follow the BSCS's 5E instructional model (Bybee, RW, et al., 2006).
