Scrambled Poetry - 1 views

  •
This is a website that was very fun for my students last year. The ready made poems are appropriate for 4-6 but the blank magnetics could be used for any grade. Students are given scrambled magnets that they have to try to put in sentences to create a poem. New this year is a blank set of magnet that you can add your own words to.

Online Mind Mapping - MindMeister - 1 views

Another free online graphic organizer site! Great to use with a SMARTboard
  •
It's cool that you can publish a mindmap that you make to your webpage-your students could make one and post them to your classroom website! I haven't tried it yet though. I'd watch the demo they offer through the help menu. It gave the basics. My only problem with it was that sometimes it would be slow and not do what I needed.

Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for Kids - 1 views

Tiered reading assignments (by grade level) for information about our government. Sorry 5th grade...this probably would have been great 3 months ago!
  •
This website has a lot of great information for kids about our governement. The reading is "tiered" by grade levels, but you could have a struggling reader read the same information, but at a lower level. A great way to combine leveled reading with content area.

I read about this site in one of my education magazines. It has online textbooks that you can use for free. You can also "make" your own textbooks that fit better into your classroom! I haven't been able to play around with it too much, but it's worth a try!
