I really like this site for a word of the day. It has a comic of the word and then many examples in contexts along with an auditory of the word. Simple and easy site!

This website helps students visualize vocabulary words through word webs and pictures/images from flickr. Great resource for students!

For upper levels, this site gives a ton of information about one word. It gives examples and real life example from twitter. It also pulls up images from flickr that go along with the vocabulary word. Impressive, but it's a little busy with information.

Higher grade levels that you can create your own flashcards online. Another strategy for previewing vocabulary before your students get to your guided reading group. Students can also create their own.

Great vocabulary practice! Definitely for upper grade levels...teacher needs to create a classroom login information or have student use their gaggle accounts to create their own.

Another free online graphic organizer site! Great to use with a SMARTboard

It's cool that you can publish a mindmap that you make to your webpage-your students could make one and post them to your classroom website! I haven't tried it yet though. I'd watch the demo they offer through the help menu. It gave the basics. My only problem with it was that sometimes it would be slow and not do what I needed.
