I really like this site for a word of the day. It has a comic of the word and then many examples in contexts along with an auditory of the word. Simple and easy site!

For upper levels, this site gives a ton of information about one word. It gives examples and real life example from twitter. It also pulls up images from flickr that go along with the vocabulary word. Impressive, but it's a little busy with information.
