Pain's Human Path manages to find Naruto's location by reading Shizune's mind before removing her soul, killing her. Might Guy has a bad feeling when he sees flocks of birds flying away from the village and has his team make their way back. Pain's Animal Path reunites the other four Paths along with Konan outside Konoha to allow the Deva Path to destroy the village with a large scale Shinra Tensei, at the cost of shortening Nagato's life

Naruto confronts Deva Path as the other five Paths reappear. Asura Path attacks Tsunade and Naruto destroys it, telling Tsunade to leave. She does so and reverts to her old self with Sakura. Naruto charges forward as the toads deal with Animal Path's summons. Naruto fights Preta Path with Frog Kumite and defeats it before speaking to Deva. He reveals that they were both Jiraiya's apprentices and how he only wants peace. Angered with his hypocrisy, Naruto throws a Rasenshuriken at the remaining Paths of Pain.

Rukia, Renji and Chad attack Rudobone but find that the Exequia leader continuously produces more soldiers to defend him. After discussing strategy, all three attack him simultaneously with them breaking his defense while Rukia freezes Rudobone with Sode no Shirayuki. Rudobone is then finished off by Yammy who abruptly arrives at the scene. Meanwhile, in his new hollow form, Ichigo blasts Ulquiorra point-blank with his cero and is about to finish him off when Ishida stops him, trying to end his merciless attacks. Humans corner Chopper and the chick on a cliff, hoping to eat them, until the bird's mother rescues Chopper by pushing him off a cliff and saves her child. Chopper is grateful, but then realizes he has no idea when the bird will be able to fly.
