Unlike the earlier method that was based on conventional numerical marking, the new grading system introduced by CBSE awards students subject-wise grades on the basis of pre-determined marks ranges. Under this new system a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score that indicates their overall performance in all subjects is given to the students along with the subject-wise grades and grade points.
