Game designers work with others to brainstorm ideas for new games and develop new games. Game Designers are often entertained by their field of study. Game designers often utilize their own creative and problem-solving skills. Game design make high salaries and is a growing industry. However, there are some disadvantages to being a game designer. Game designers sometimes are obligated to work overtime which may lead to burn-out. Since game designers work long hours at a computer, they often suffer from eye strain and migraines.  Game designers often may have one job within their game development company. A game designer must be able to work with storyboard, game artists,and coders.Game designers may be asked to help troubleshoot games Game designers may be asked to check for glitches and other issues in the game problem. In addition, game designers may be asked to create special features for the game and perform collision tests which are used to enhance the performance of graphic content. 

Full Sail University describes the type of skills that are needed to become an effective game designer. The university's curriculum  includes game play, story development, and production of the gaming industry. During my time at Full Sail, I will be taught how to develop a game for a PC, or other gaming console. The university's Game Design program will teach their student the step and apply them to create a game of their own. 

Video game designers are responsible for creating all dimensions of a game world. Not only do they conceptualize stories, they also must engineer a system that accounts for every possible interaction a player may make with the game environment. Intense perfectionists, they spend hours testing prototypes and debugging code to get rid of flaws in the system.

Remember the vintage game "Pull the Rug Out?" It is a board game where players stack different items on top of a rug. Eventually, one of the players tries to pull out the rug without tumbling the pieces stacked on top of it. Google's recent announcement that it is phasing out several additional services, including the highly popular Google Reader, reminded me of this game, as I recall that the stack most always toppled to the ground. Google introduced Google Reader, gradually built up its popularity, and then pulled the rug out with little warning, causing its customers to stumble. As one Google customer put it: "Google spends millions of wasted dollars on pet projects, then kills one of their best products on a whim." Google's most recent spring cleaning brings the total number of services it has discontinued to 70 in just a year-and-a-half. That's right-a whopping 70 services that have been shut down in just 18 months. Among the services Google will discontinue with little warning is Google Cloud Connect, introduced with a lot of fanfare just two years ago. Cloud Connect is a plug-in that enables Google users to share and edit Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel files. To continue collaborating with Microsoft Office, Google users have just four weeks to uninstall Cloud Connect and install Google Drive. Companies that can't get to it by April 30 will be out of luck, leaving them without a way to collaborate on Office documents used by millions of employees, partners, and customers. But of all the services Google is discontinuing this time, the one that's drawing the biggest backlash is Google Reader, a service used by hundreds of thousands of users to keep track of their favorite websites and blogs via RSS feeds. The news of Google Reader's shut down drew outrage from users, who put together a petition demanding that Google reinstate the service. In the broadest sense, game design refers to the idea behind a game. But it's come to mean a whole lot more than that. In large immersive games, game design refers to the central theme or point, as well as the story and plot and the characters' back-stories.

Treyarch has been responsible for one of the most popular games of all time, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2. This game consumed a lot of hours from my life, Zombies especially. Although this website is a bit bland on info and very image driven I definitely wanted to add them as one of my picks because their artwork and imagination is right up my ally.

Red Storm Entertainment is a innovator in the shooter game genre. They have came out with great visual games and take great pride in their quality of art.
