The Western Section of The Wildlife Society (TWS-WS) has historically supported conferences and symposia and studies through grants. Board members review all funding requests and make selections based on the following criteria: Applicant must be a member of TWS-WS; Consistency with TWS purposes and objectives as cited in the Western Section By-Laws; Timeliness and relevance: Local, regional, or national level; Proposals must demonstrate a clear need for funding and should define a time-line for project implementation, endorsement, and/or financial support of local TWS Chapter; Demonstration of shared costs; a detailed budget showing amount and use of TWS-WS grant is required; Quality and brevity of submitted request; Availability of funds and amount of funding requested; Ability of the applicant to successfully implement the proposed project; and Conference or symposium organizers receiving grant funding must submit a schedule of proposed sessions. The Section will award grants up to a maximum of $1,000 (depending on availability of funds) for a single project or event. There is no grant award minimum. Matching funds and partnerships are not required. Any partners providing funds or in-kind services must be listed in the proposal with a letter of commitment from each.

The NSF Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) invites grantees with active CISE awards to submit requests for Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Supplemental funding, following the guidelines in the NSF REU program solicitation [see Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU): Sites and Supplements; NSF 13-542]. To be eligible for this opportunity, a student must be a US citizen or permanent resident of the US. The duration for new requests is typically one year. The proposed start date for a supplemental funding request must be after the conclusion of all existing REU supplements on the corresponding active CISE award. Priority will be given to supplemental funding requests submitted before March 30, 2019; the potential for funding requests after this date will be limited. If requests for REU supplemental support exceed funds available in CISE, requests will be considered in the order received. REU supplemental funds can be used at any time during the year.

The Tweedie Exploration Fellowships for Students, or Tweedie Fund, grants financial help for research projects taking place in lesser-known regions of the world. The fund only makes awards to students or other candidates who are not in career-level employment. There are several restrictions on applications to the Tweedie fund: Applicants must have a degree and appropriate experience for any research. Applicants must be unsalaried (i.e. not in career-level employment). Applicants should be looking to undertake ethnological, sociological or linguistic research in lesser-known regions of the world. Particular preference is given to research based in areas of Asia and Northern Africa. Archaeological excavations are specifically excluded from receiving money from the fund.

FSH Society research and fellowship grant awards provide vital start-up  funding for investigators in FSHD and research projects on FSHD. The research milestones and insights gained are demonstrably significant. The fellowship program allows innovative and entrepreneurial research to develop and ultimately to be able to attract funding from large funding sources such as the US National Institutes of Health (NIH). The FSH Society meets an important need in funding and developing new ideas and supporting new investigators in FSHD research by giving them the funds needed to develop data and to carry their ideas to the next stage of development.

The National Sea Grant College Program was enacted by U.S. Congress in 1966 (amended in 2008, Public Law 110-394) to support leveraged federal and state partnership that harness the intellectual capacity of the nation's universities and research institutions to solve problems and generate opportunities in coastal communities. This notice announces that applications may be submitted for the 2020 National Sea Grant College Program Dean John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship (Sea Grant Knauss Fellowship Program). The National Sea Grant College Program anticipates funding not less than 35 selected applicants, of which those assigned to the Legislative branch will be approximately 14. Each award will be funded up to a total of $71,500 in federal funding, which includes up to $10,000 for office-related travel. In certain circumstances additional office-related travel funding may take the award above $71,500. In such cases any additional funds will be administered through an amendment to the grant. Applicants are strongly encouraged to reach out to the Sea Grant Program in their state/territory one to two months prior to the state application deadline to receive application support and provide notification of an intent to apply. The applicant should allow sufficient time to schedule an interview with the eligible Sea Grant program at the program's request.

The Office of Citizen Exchanges, Youth Programs Division, of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces an open competition for the FY 2018 Jovenes en Accion (Youth in Action), an exchange program for Mexican high school students. U.S. public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3)may submit proposals to provide participants with a four-week summer exchange program in the United States focused on civic education, community service, and youth leadership development and to support the implementation of service projects in their home communities. This program will be funded as a joint initiative between the U.S. Department of State, the Mexican government, and the private sector. U.S. Embassy Mexico City and the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education will recruit, screen, and select the participants. ECA funding will support U.S.-based activities for approximately 25 participants to take place during summer 2018. U.S. Embassy Mexico City anticipates additional funding to increase the total number of participants to approximately 75 students; proposals should indicate the applicant's ability in hosting approximately 75 students and managing funding from multiple sources. The Department reserves the right to reduce, revise, or increase proposal project configurations, budgets, and participant numbers in accordance with the needs of the program and the availability of funds.

The ACS Women Chemists Committee (WCC) and Eli Lilly and Company sponsor a program to provide funding for undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral female chemists to travel to meetings to present the results of their research. Through this program, WCC and Eli Lilly and Company continue to increase the participation of women in the chemical sciences. Awards are made on the basis of scientific merit and financial need. Funds may be applied only for registration, travel, and accommodations, and are restricted to travel to meetings within the United States. Grant funds are limited, but there are some funds designated for undergraduates.

The Birkbeck History, Classics and Archaeology Department is pleased to announce the availability of a fully funded three-year doctoral grant to work on a project that that falls within the scope of Professor Daniel Pick's five year senior investigator award, entitled 'Hidden Persuaders? Brainwashing, Culture, Clinical Knowledge and the Cold War Human Sciences, c. 1950-1990'. The doctoral studentship will be supervised by Professor Daniel Pick and is funded by the Wellcome Trust. It includes some travel funds to attend conferences and consult key archives abroad. The team consists of the principal investigator, two post-doctoral researchers and three doctoral students as well as visiting scholars.

The Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Fellowship for Students at Institutions Without NIH-Funded Institutional Predoctoral Dual-Degree Training Programs (Parent F30) award will support students at institutions without formal NIH-funded institutional predoctoral dual-degree training programs. The purpose of this FOA is to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising predoctoral students, who are matriculated in a combined MD/PhD or other dual-doctoral degree training program (e.g., DO/PhD, DDS/PhD, AuD/PhD, DVM/PhD), and who intend careers as physician/clinician-scientists. Applicants must propose an integrated research and clinical training plan and a dissertation research project in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers. The fellowship experience is expected to clearly enhance the individuals' potential to develop into a productive, independent physician/clinician-scientist. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is designed specifically for applicants proposing research that does not involve leading an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study, or an ancillary study to a clinical trial, but does allow applicants to propose research experience in a clinical trial led by a sponsor or co-sponsor.

The Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO) awards Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Biology to recent recipients of the doctoral degree for research and training in selected areas supported by BIO and with special goals for human resource development in biology.  The fellowships encourage independence at an early stage of the research career to permit Fellows to pursue their research and training goals in the most appropriate research locations regardless of the availability of funding for the Fellows at that site.  For FY 2013, these BIO programs are (1) Broadening Participation in Biology; (2) Intersections of Biology and Mathematical and Physical Sciences and Engineering; (3) National Plant Genome Initiative Postdoctoral Research Fellowships; and (4) International Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Biology.  These areas change periodically as new scientific and infrastructure opportunities present themselves. For this reason, this solicitation will be changed as necessary to reflect the areas being funded.

The Kinsey Institute Student Research Grants program confers sexuality research grants to emerging scholars and seeks to fund significant and innovative research, from a wide array of disciplines and perspectives, that deals with human sexuality. The program is supported by donations from Friends of The Kinsey Institute The Kinsey Institute will fund up to four proposals at $1000 each, including two from graduate students at Indiana University and two from graduate students enrolled at other universities. It is an expectation that results from the funded studies will ultimately be submitted for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals. In addition, descriptions of the research will be posted on The Kinsey Institute's website.

Career development grants up to $750 for students and untenured scholars; can cover travel, application fees, conference fees, and other career-related expenses. Eligible career-advancing activities include, but are not limited to: Presentations at academic or professional conferences Travel to academic job interviews on a campus or at professional/academic conferences Travel to archives or libraries for research Participation in career-development or enhancing seminars Distribution of a published article to colleagues in your field Submission of unpublished manuscripts to journals or book publishers Please note, Hayek Fund awards are not given for conference attendance alone. Funding will only be considered for individuals presenting a paper or interviewing for a job at a conference.

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) announces the availability of funds for Administrative Supplements to NIGMS-funded predoctoral T32 training grants. These funds are designed to provide support for the development and implementation of curricular activities aimed at a) providing graduate students with a strong foundation in research design and methods in areas related to conducting reproducible and rigorous research and b) broadening training to better prepare students for research careers in a variety of venues, such as industry, government, or entrepreneurial enterprises.

With support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) operates a grant program that supports research on a wide range of issues of critical importance to U.S. higher education. To qualify for funding, proposal submissions must use data from one or more of the national datasets of NCES or NSF listed in the grant guidelines.  Additional large-scale, nationally representative datasets may be used in conjunction with the obligatory NSF or NCES dataset. Research topics may cover a wide range of policy- or practice-related issues. For a list of previously funded topics visit the Funded Grants page. Two levels of grants are supported: Research Grants: Faculty and practitioners are eligible for research grants of up to $40,000 for one year of independent research. (Note: These research grants are not available to students). All grant recipients must be affiliated with a U.S. postsecondary institution or relevant non-profit higher education organization. Dissertation Grants: Doctoral students are eligible for dissertation grants of up to $20,000 for one year to support dissertation research and writing under the guidance of a faculty dissertation advisor. 

The Surdna Foundation is accepting proposals through its Artists Engaging in Social Change funding area for one- or two-year support for extraordinary artist-driven projects. Grants of up to $150,000 over two years will be awarded in support of compelling artists projects developed in response to specific challenges in their communities, as well as projects by artists whose work over the long term has increased social engagement without necessarily being explicitly defined as "activist."  All artistic disciplines will be considered, including cross-disciplinary work. The funds are designated for one-time project support and cannot support organizations' ongoing programs, operations, capital, or endowments, although up to 15 percent administrative overhead is allowed. To be eligible, projects must be artist-led and demonstrate a deep commitment to a community, as demonstrated by the process through which the work is developed and the theme or themes on which it is focused. Applicants can be at any stage of their careers but must have a track record of developed work that demonstrates their capacity to complete the proposed project and to manage the level of funds requested. Both 501(c)(3) organizations and individual artists are eligible to apply, but artists and collectives that are not incorporated as 501(c)(3)s must apply under a fiscal sponsor. The Fellowship Program generally awards two new PhD Fellowships each year to students who are interested in careers related to the development and implementation of quantitative methods for assessing the economics of the conservation and management of living marine resources. Fellows will work on thesis problems of public interest and relevance to NMFS under the guidance of NMFS mentors at participating NMFS Science Centers or Offices. The NMFS-Sea Grant Fellowship in Marine Resource Economics meets NOAA's Healthy Oceans goal of "Marine fisheries, habitats, biodiversity sustained with healthy and productive ecosystems". The expected annual award per Fellow will be $43,500 (federal plus matching funds), of which half ($21,750) is expected to be provided by NOAA Fisheries, and the other half is expected to be provided by Sea Grant federal funds and required associated matching funds.

Together with University Advancement, the Office for the Advancement of Research & Scholarship (OARS) is rolling out an new crowdfunding platform called HawksNest. Through HawksNest, alumni, family, and friends of the university can directly support the research, scholarship, and service projects of Miami University students, faculty, and staff. This is how HawksNest works: * Any Miami University student, faculty, or staff member may complete an online application to have a project considered for funding. * An internal review team assesses applications and posts approved projects on HawksNest for a maximum of 45 days. * Potential donors visit the site to learn about and pledge funds to approved projects. * Once a funding goal has been met, the project can begin! * Project managers use the site to keep donors up-to-date with information on the project's progress.

The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of U.S. Embassy Ulaanbaatar, U.S. Department of State, is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Local Grants Program. This Annual Program Statement outlines funding priorities and the procedures for submitting funding requests. Please carefully follow all instructions below.Purpose of Local Grants: PAS awards a limited number of grants to individuals, non-governmental organizations, think tanks, and academic institutions to support cultural, artistic, educational, and other exchanges and projects to improve mutual understanding between the United States and Mongolia and build people-to-people ties. PAS will only consider grant proposals that include an American component or element.

The International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) program supports international research and research-related activities for U.S. science and engineering students. The IRES program contributes to development of a diverse, globally-engaged workforce with world-class skills. IRES focuses on active research participation by undergraduate or graduate students in high quality international research, education and professional development experiences in NSF-funded research areas. The overarching, long-term goal of the IRES program is to enhance U.S. leadership in research and education and to strengthen economic competitiveness through training the next generation of research leaders. This solicitation features three mechanisms; proposers are required to select one of the following tracks to submit their proposal. Track I focuses on the development of world-class research skills in international cohort experiences. Track II is dedicated to targeted, intensive learning and training opportunities that leverage international knowledge at the frontiers of research. Track III supports U.S. institutional collaborations to develop, implement and evaluate innovative models for high-impact, large-scale international research and professional development experiences for U.S. graduate students. Student participants supported by IRES funds must be citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States. Students do not apply directly to NSF to participate in IRES activities. Students apply to NSF-funded investigators who receive IRES awards. To identify appropriate IRES projects, students should consult the directory of active IRES awards. All PIs, co-PIs and Senior Personnel on IRES proposals must be from U.S. based institutions.

The Diversity Pipeline Research Grant Program provides funding to programs and initiatives aimed at helping college students and/or college graduates from historically underrepresented groups successfully matriculate into law school and the legal profession. The central goal of the grant is to increase the knowledge base around effective methods for increasing the enrollment and success of law students from historically underrepresented racial and socioeconomic backgrounds. Accordingly, we seek to fund collaborative programs that provide participants with meaningful content and experiences as well as holistic support. Funded programs must engage in rigorous program evaluation, systematically measuring outcomes and identifying scalable best practices.
